Defi Lynx '100' series Coffret Box Dimensions

This is the "100" series DEFI LYNX lapel pin collectible coffret. These were created as part of the Lynx Challenge (Defi Lynx) - Lapel Pin Promotion. See more details about this and the other "250" series boxes here - Lynx Challenge (Defi Lynx) - Lapel Pin Coffret / Display Case.

This page contains details of the box dimensions and features. The box top and bottom appear to be made out of veneered plywood. The box shell/frame is made out of solid wood. A small bevel edge is applied around all top and bottom corners of the box, while the side corners are left un-bevelled. There are two brass hinges holding the top and bottom sections together and a brass latch on the front so the box can be secured shut.

Each box appears to be hand-made, so there are small variances in dimensions from box to box.

Sides

The top and bottom veneered plywood is clearly visible on the sides. This plywood appears to be 3.5mm thick (probably a 3mm ply with the veneer applied on either side). The top lid total thickness is 15mm and the bottom base is 19mm. The rear sections on each side have a groove cut out to line up with the same groove on the rear of the box.

Rear

The back of the box has a prominent groove cut into it, which is actually a deep bevel on each of the top and bottom sections of the rear of the lid. The bevel is 3mm on each side, making a 6mm groove. The hinges are offset around 30mm from the sides of the box and fall into the inside of the groove between the top and bottom sections. The actual offset from either side varies, it's not 30mm exactly e.g. 32mm on one side and 35mm on the other.

Inside

Inside, the box has a thin black felt lining on the top lid. The bottom lid is not lacquered from the inside and has a black felt and foam insert (not pictured). This insert was where the pins were attached. The box frame is made out of 10mm solid wood which is connected together with dado joints in each of the four corners.
